Extensive construction work has begun
The complex construction work for the 14th Indoor Steam Engine Meeting in Karlsruhe has already begun. From 11th December until just before Christmas, 10 dedicated model engineers will put in over 800 hours of work in Hall 2 of the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre on the world’s largest indoor 5” railway track and the combined 5” + 7¼” layout. For steam-driven ships there will be a pool measuring 15 metres in diameter holding 100,000 litres of water. More than 300 linear metres of table top presentation will be prepared for the hundreds of stationary steam engines and ships on display, as well as 2,000 square metres of raised platform for all the small scale railway layouts. When the extensive preparations have been completed, the exhibition halls of Messe Karlsruhe will be under steam for the first time from 8th – 10th January 2010. 107 exhibitors from Germany, England, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Hungary, Austria and Croatia will show the international significance of this fascinating hobby, offering a unique array of products and accessories for steam model enthusiasts. 410 private model owners and guest drivers from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, England, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, France and Japan will present over a thousand steam models in action.
